Week 19

How far along: 19 weeks 3 days --- a little late on this post, Scott got days off for Thanksgiving so we spent our time lounging around the house, fixing the truck and working on our little remodel projects. Oh, and while Scott did those things, I made sugar cookies :)

Total weight gain: Pretty sure only about 7 pounds so far... thinking I should be a little fatter by now.

Maternity clothes: I have to --- found another pair of maternity jeans that are pretty great but a little too big. Other than that: long layers, sweats and maternity leggings (the best things in the world!).

Sleep: Decent. Having some strangely vivid dreams. I've also been tossing and turning A LOT. I have to sleep on my side because laying flat on my back just hurts... It's like my uterus is pushing on everything. ESPECIALLY my bladder!

Best moment this week: All the movement :) And Scott always putting his hand on my belly. He had me come sit on him on the couch but said he just wanted the baby, I didn't have to pay attention :)

What I miss: Still... coffee. I've been drinking two small mugs in the morning but hesitate to have any more. I'll have to get decaf, then I won't have to worry so much.

Movement: Yep! I've jumped a few times at some hard kicks -- it's so, so, so much fun having this connection to the baby. It's so personal. And now today Scott go to feel it too :) Our first family time!

Food cravings: Just hungry all the time. Constantly.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yes - been really noticing the belly lately.

Gender: Will know on Dec. 5 --- soon!!

Happy or moody: Happy :)

Things I've been experiencing this week: Achyness on my abdomen/groin. All the time, but really when I get up from sitting or laying down. Bumpy car rides aren't friendly, either. Scott and I took a ride down by the river to check out the sand dunes/bars and it was not comfortable for baby and me.

What I'm looking forward to: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound... it's coming up soooo quickly, I cannot wait!! And, of course, finding out if Baby K is a he or a she --- I can just tell that it'll make the rest of the pregnancy that much more personal. Plus, we can start calling it our "son" or "daughter"!

Size of baby: The size of a mango.
Scott took this of me from his phone. I just really like it :)

Week 18

How far along: 18 weeks

Total weight gain: 7 pounds

Maternity clothes: Well, even my fat pants are getting too tight. So I've been living in sweats when at home and maternity leggings and (the one decent pair of) maternity jeans.
  • Any advice for getting good maternity leggings or jeans that you love?
Sleep: Good - been having the strangest dreams, not even about babies. Just weirdo things happening. Now that the time changed, (I might as well join everyone else complaining about it) I have been getting sleepy early because it's dark out and waking up early. Last night I fell asleep at 9 :)

Best moment this week: Feeling the baby kick and kick :)

What I miss: Lots and lots of coffe every morning. And being able to get up form a sitting position with ease - my tailbone hurts all the time.

Movement: YES!! I feel the little thing moving throughout the day and it just makes me so happy. Sometimes it's like a little butterfly fluttering around and sometimes it's like a popcorn kernel popped in there! It's the absolute best.

Food cravings: I've been eating a lot better -- keeping sweets to a minimum. I have been sooo thirsty lately, not sure what that's about, but I've just been chugging ice water.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yes.

Gender: Will know on Dec. 5!

Happy or moody: Happy!

Things I've been experiencing this week: I think something I could consider round ligament pain. I have to brace myself to sneeze and get in and out of the pickup because quick movements send some shooting pain in my pelvis. Also heartburn and an uncomfortable time sleeping on my back.

What I'm looking forward to: Seeing Baby K on the ultrasound in less than a month! And starting to order the crib and chair for the nursery. I have everything else, I think! Just have to get cracking on the room :) Can't wait!

Size of baby: The size of a sweet potato.

Revamp for Baby

So, I'm completely ticked that I didn't get a "before" photo of this old wash stand. It was hideous. The top was raw wood with a big dark stain and the rest was painted BLUE (exactly this color) and the hardware was painted over and it was just a mess.

I've had the thing for probably 3 years but never had a place for it. But... now that baby is coming, I'm hoping it'll be a great little fixture in the nursery.

Here is the final product:

I just wiped it all off, primed, painted and re-hardwared the thing and I'm pretty in love with how it turned out :)

Happy Monday!

Week 17

I looked quite hideous this evening... so it was hard to find a decent picture. Looking chubby...

How far along: 16 weeks 6 days

Total weight gain: 6 pounds

Maternity clothes: Leggings and long shirts mostly. My normal jeans are being squeezed into with a hair tie to secure the button and my belly band to hold them up... a little too much rigging.

Sleep: Good - been having the strangest dreams, not even about babies. Just weirdo things happening. Now that the time changed, (I might as well join everyone else complaining about it) I have been getting sleepy early because it's dark out and waking up early. Last night I fell asleep at 9 :)

Best moment this week: Trying to discern normal body movement from baby movement :) I just lay there concentrating on the little thing inside me.

What I miss: Chugging a pot of coffee in the mornings.

Movement: YES!!! Everyone is right, it is the most lovely feeling. Can't wait for Scott to be able to feel them too. Now, even when Scott isn't home, I still get tickled while I'm laying on the couch :)

Food cravings: Everything. Sweets especially. I slurped up a teaspoon of brown sugar at my mom's this weekend because she didn't have any candy...

Making me queazy: Nothing... besides too much Chinese food the other night. But it was worth it.

Starting to show: Yeah, I think so. I'm definitely aware of my belly all the time.

Gender: Will know on Dec. 5!

Happy or moody: Happy!

Things I've been experiencing this week: Some pains in my abdomen I'm assuming is just from everything expanding.
  • Note: This past weekend was deer season opener. So my sister and I went out hunting for three days. I had to be conscious to not do anything dumb like get too exhausted. Baby's (sort of) first hunt! Many more to come, I'm sure.
What I'm looking forward to: The next doctor's appointment to see our babe and get pictures and know further if everything is still going great. Scott will be coming to this one, so I'm really excited.

Size of baby: The size of an onion.

Week 16

How far along: 15 weeks 6 days

Total weight gain: Probably around 5 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Maternity leggings and the one pair of jeans.

Sleep: Pretty darn good this week.

Best moment this week:
 Seeing the baby!

What I miss: Not caring how much coffee I guzzle in the morning.

Movement: I think I felt some! But it was so faint and didn't last too long so I'm not sure. Should be feeling it definitely soon!

Food cravings: Sweets. Ahhhhh they are killing me.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show:
Yep, I've got a bump that can be discernable from a normal old fat belly :P (to the trained eye, of course.)

Gender: Will know Dec. 5!

Happy or moody: Happy.

Things I've been experiencing this week: I went into my normal 16 week visit and the doctor thought I was possibly further along than we thought (or had twins!) so she recommended an ultra sound that day. So I got to see our little baby! It was surreal and pretty awesome :)

What I'm looking forward to: The next doctor's appointment and finding out what sex the baby is!!! Oh, and starting to order all things nursery :)

Size of baby: The size of a mango.

(I've been reading this site weekly - Alpha Mom - 16 weeks - it's pretty light and hilarious at times!)

Nursery Inspiration Board

So, today I've been working on the nursery like a mad man. I narrowed a lot down, with Pinterest as both a helpful tool and a harm with all it's stinking good ideas. Here is what I've come up with:

The canopy over the bed, I plan on putting over the crib as a center focal point of the room with the "you are loved always" sign (that will be my own DIY rendition of it) will go on the wall behind the crib.

The fabric I found at Hawthorne Threads. You can find the fabrics here: grey -- orange -- blue/green. The crib is from WalMart (a cheeper version than the Target one or many, many others identical. The rug is from Urbain Outfitters. Any other questions, just email me at kingston.sne@gmail.com :)
