Week 28 -- We're in the final trimester, baby!

How far along: 28 weeks

Days to due date: 12 weeks

Total weight gain: I'll guess 23+- pounds - I'll find out a solid number at next week's appointment.

Maternity clothes: Of course. Normal shirts are starting to fit strange.

Sleep: It's been difficult this week... Two nights this week I stayed with Scott in his shack on an oil rig location and we got to sleep on the worst twin sized pull out couch, but even my comfy bed at home wasn't cutting it this week.

Best moment this week: Even though the bed was uncomfortable, I loved our sleep overs in the shack :) We had microwave dinner and watched a movie, oh-so-cute :P

What I miss: Sleeping through the night without having to pee. On location the shack didn't have a bathroom, so instead of walking across the yard to the bathroom, I just popped a squat in the nearest dark place. It was quite a shocker having to go out in the middle of the night in winter. (You know, during our one actual cold week we've had this year.)

Movement: Lots and lots this week. He's been kicking up top lately (I think he's flipped and has his head down and legs up by my ribs now). I also felt his first jabs to my ribs, that naughty boy. Those dont' feel good and I've had to keep my hand pushed on my ribs so he can't get his feet up there. He's also got the hiccups down :)

Food cravings: Diet Coke.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yessir. More and more random people are asking me when I'm due.

Gender: Sweet baby boy.

Happy or moody: Happy. :)

Things I've been experiencing this week: Rib jabbing, shortness of breath, loss of core strength resulting in a more difficult time getting up from a laying position. Those are the not so fun things. But I've also been feeling little hiccups. And this week I've felt a little closer to our little guy - being able to interact with him and "discipline" him for the first time by pushing him away from my ribs has been kind of fun, in a way. I jumped one time from a big kick that hurt me and Scott asked if he needed to spank him :)
I constantly day dream about him and what he'll look like and sound like and how he'll smell. Three months sometimes seems like an eternity.
  • It was so, so nice to click on "Third Trimester" on thebump.com when searching for this week's information :)
  • This was a fun little experience yesterday - Scott and I went to the dentist for cleanings. Well about halfway through I started getting hot, so I asked to sit up to take off my sweater. That helped for about 2 minutes but then I started getting sweaty and wet and my vision started to blurr. So I asked to sit up because I wasn't feeling good... I sat up and had to just sit there while she brought me some water. I almost passed out, or at least puked all over the dentist lady. I'm guessing it was just because I was on my back too long and it lessened my blood flow... Not cool.
  • Oh yeah, and the receptionist at the dentist said, "You're 7 months?! You don't look it, you're hiding it well." I almost blurted out, "Have you seen this thing?!?!"
What I'm looking forward to: Having the hubby home :) Which means we can put the shelves in Baby K's open closet and put the crib together!

Size of baby: A rutabaga. Don't know what that is? Me either. Apparently he's putting on layers of fat and is 1.5-2.5 pounds and about 15 inches.

Week 27

I've got a nice basketball in there!

How far along: 27 weeks 3 days --- very late with this post, sorry.

Days to due date: 12 weeks 4 day ---- whoaaaa!!!

Total weight gain: I'll guess 21+- pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yessir.

Sleep: Been pretty good this week. Minus attempting to sleep in a sitting position because of a stuffy nose. Our house is sooo dry. Getting a humidifier for our bedroom this weekend.

Best moment this week: Sewing, sewing, sewing for Baby K! I got all the things I wanted done for the diaper bag, and diaper bag came in the mail, too!! So I have it all packed (yeah, I'm a dork). And girls days in Fargo (more on that later.)

What I miss: Not having a constant stuff nose. Painless, non-uncomfortable nights.

Movement: Yep - quieter this week, but moving all around.

Food cravings: Apparently everything this week. Any commercial on TV makes me want to eat the product. I made honey butter (bad idea) and almost ate a whole role of buiscuts with it.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yep. This belly button keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Gender: Sweet baby boy.

Happy or moody: Happy. :)

Things I've been experiencing this week: Having a hard time breathing sometimes, especially in certain positions. I've also been having super vivid, weirdo dreams.
AND, my belly gets lopsided at times and protrudes out in little places from a head or a little butt or footsie :) When I try to lift up my shirt to watch, he stops, that little bugger. I love seeing him move.
  • Alphamom.com says: "May notice more of that pesky round ligament pain as your belly gets harder and bigger and rounder, or as it starts to dip down a little bit, looking a little less perky and cute than it did a few weeks ago."  -- I'm constantly sore in my lower pelvis area. My belly is a funny shape, I think. It's more of an egg than a soccer ball. I feel like I'm carrying low, too - like it hasn't filled all the way up yet (probably do to my rock hard upper abs... maybe not). But I'm looking forward to a full out found belly as it continues to expand.
What I'm looking forward to: Well, I had a lovely girls weekend in Fargo a few days ago :) I should have posted this before we left, but I didn't get the photo in time. It was sooo much fun --- shopping, eating too much and pedicures. Oh, and wedding dress shopping for my best friend's wedding next January!! It was soooo nice to hang out with everyone.

Size of baby: A slightly larger eggplant than last week or a head of cauliflower - 15 inches and over 2 pounds!

Butchin' up the nursery

So I got to spend last week with my hubby in Williston, N.D. (he is a fishing tool consultant in the oil field - don't know what that means? neither do I really - he fixes things when they loose tools in the well hole).

Two evenings we bought some food and grilled out in the shop for everyone. While I was waiting for him to be done loading some tools, this pegboard caught my eye.

I have this one wall in the nursery that is awkward because the door opens up to it, leaving no room for any piece of furniture or shelving, really. So I thought a pegboard would be a nice space saver.

I like the "manliness" of a pegboard, especially the one in the shop at Scott's work. I love that there is a plain clock and some makeshift shelving. I'd like to add some wire baskets for misc. things and stuffed animals and pegs for spare blankets and cute little hooded baby towels, spaces to hold some books and some fun framed goodies. I'd also paint it... possibly brown?

These are a few pegboard ideas I really like from Pinterest:

My sister found this on Pinterest:

How freaking cool is that?!

Week 26

Weeks aren't as cool without Lindsay's photos.
How far along: 25 weeks 6 days

Days to due date: 14 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain: Guessing around 18-19 pounds. This creeping number freaks me out sometimes.

Maternity clothes: Yes. I'm still sad about my favorite pair of maternity jeans getting too tight around my belly. I've been having to wear the elastic band folded down so my belly doesn't look like it has a seam in it :P

Sleep: Can't complain too much. I've been with Scott at work, living in his pickup while on jobs and I actually slept great in there! The problem is laying stretched out - apparently this belly doesn't allow that anymore.

Best moment this week: Being with my husband at work. It's nice to actually "live" with him instead of be at home waiting for him.

What I miss: Probably just sleeping like a normal person.

Movement: More and more going on in there :) There's been some heavy "swishing" instead of just thumping kicks and pounds. I also think I felt hiccups for the first time today! It's a funny feeling and I keeping thinking of my new cousin William and how he looked hiccuping at 6 days old and picturing Baby K doing the same thing. Oh, and Baby K has started to LOVE kicking mama's insides. Not cool, kid.

Food cravings: None, really. That quart of chocolate milk sure was satisfying the other day, though.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yes. The jacket I've been wearing is creeping up a lot more than usual. Might have to retire it here soon.

Gender: Sweet baby boy.

Happy or moody: Happy. :)

Things I've been experiencing this week: Lots-o-heartburn. Up until now I've just been sucking it up until it goes away (it's the worse when I lay down.) But I gave in yesterday and bought Tums. I hate Tums. I usually swallow those large chalky things whole.

What I'm looking forward to: I love, love being at work with Scott, but I'm looking forward to getting home to do more sewing projects. AND, next week my bff Lisa and I are making a trip to Fargo to have a girls night out with our other bffs Tiffany and Jackie :) I wanted all of us to get together and go out before I break our little pact and become the first to be a mama. Oh, and I get to see my beautiful sister, of course, and go to Forever 21 (oh, how I've missed our random shopping sprees.) AND, moving into the third (and FINAL) trimester!
  • Alphamom says that from now on, I'll be gaining a 1/2 inch belly size. EACH WEEK. Now, I've always wanted to be pregnant and have a big huge belly, but that seems crazy! I've still got a long ways to go and I think my belly is pretty large already!

Size of baby: An eggplant size -  13.5-15 inches and 1.5-2.2 pounds. Apparently his little eyes are open now :)

Homemade lovin' for Baby K

So, our little man already has tons of things and we aren't even near the point of being ready for him to arrive. But, some of my favorite things so far are little bits of homemade items that he's given me a purpose to make and one very special item from my best friend, Tiffany.

I've developed an obsession for flannel for the little guy :) The black and red flannel blanket is so comfy and cozy, I can't wait to wrap him up in it. I also made the grey little knot hat (I made one for my cousin William and it fits him and looks just way to stinking cute) and the Lynard Skynyrd T-shirt bib, he's going to look like a little bad ass in it :) Ha! There's also the burp rag and the diaper pouch and the argile bag I think I'll use for a portable changing station around the house.

The quilt there is a special little thing - it is my friend Tiffany's very first quilt she's ever made :) It's so darn cute with little farm animals on it and so comfy with that minky fabric underneath. I love her for making it for my baby.

I've got LOTS more planned to make and develop in the next three months. THREE MONTHS! I'm starting to feel the pressure, but absolutely cannot wait. I'm already loving this purpose-filled mother thing.

Week 25

How far along: 24 weeks 6 days

Days to due date: 15 weeks 1 day

Total weight gain: Found out at the doctor that it's actually 17 pounds. Wowza, thats a big number.

Maternity clothes: Same as usual -jeans are all maternity and I'm living in sweats as much as possible. I found a few adorable new maternity shirts at Target this week - normal shirts are just not cutting it.

Sleep: Been decent this week.

Best moment this week: Just being pregnant :) Even though putting on leggings and socks and anything having to do with bending over is a chore and I can't breathe very good sometimes, I love this stage of our little family.

What I miss: Frequenting the bathroom A LOT less. Getting off the couch 15 times during a movie night is annoying.

Movement: Lots and lots. He's been kicking my insides a lot lately... it hurts :( But just happy he's swimming around in there.

Food cravings: Not much lately.

Making me queazy: Nothing.

Starting to show: Yes. The doctor has told me from early on that I measured big stomach-wise (even though the baby is the normal size). So a few people have said that I'm probably going to get HUGE because of how big I am already :P Not sure how I feel about that!

Gender: Sweet baby boy.

Happy or moody: Happy. Going to see my sweet husband tomorrow and I cannot wait.

Things I've been experiencing this week: Lack of breath. Laying down on the couch is not comfortable. Neither is sitting in general.

What I'm looking forward to: Still getting on the nursery more. I got some sewing done for the baby - some blankets and baskets and bags. I found the best flannel fabric the other day that looks like an old flannel shirt, so I'm looking forward to making some ultra boy blankets and things for Baby K :) (I find myself ALMOST slipping on here and calling his name because Scott and I use it all the time. I hope I can hold out until he's born to announce it to the world!)

Size of baby: Moving on to an eggplant size!  13-14 inches and 1.5-2.2 pounds.
